Two new trends in tile

Published: April 11, 2013

People in Indianapolis are starting to look at tile more often as a floor choice. Central Indiana residents are recognizing that tile fits in more places than the kitchen and bathroom. Yes, tile is still one of the most functional floor options available – it’s easy to maintain and holds up against wear and tear extremely well. However, tile has come a long way from the 12 inch, off-white tiles you used to see in every kitchen or foyer. Tile is officially an enhancement to your home’s design.

Glass Tile

One of the hottest trends in the tile market today is glass. It adds a sparkle and depth of color that you just can’t find in traditional ceramic tile. As an added bonus, many glass tiles are made from recycled materials so they are friendly to the environment as well as your decor.

Glass tile is available in a wide range of sizes and colors so it fits in nearly any style home. Some of our clients are using glass as an accent – perhaps as a kitchen backsplash or shower wall. Other clients are using it more creatively in their floor or entire rooms.

Metal Tile

Stainless steel, bronze and copper are popping up in more than just appliances or fixtures. Small metal tiles are bringing a whole new look to many Indy-area kitchens and bathrooms. One of the beauties of metal tile is that the finish can complement both traditional and contemporary designs. Metal tiles are often used in different shapes than traditional tiles – pebble, round or varied sizes. Metal can add a truly unique look to any room.
