How to shop for new flooring in Indianapolis

Whether you are building a new home in Fishers, remodeling a home in Zionsville, or looking to update that living room in Carmel – you’re going to be in the market for new flooring. We know that shopping for carpet, tile and hardwood isn’t something you do every day. The good news is that shopping for flooring in Indianapolis is an easy (and dare we say enjoyable) experience thanks to Kermans Flooring.
Step 1: Determine your needs.
When you walk into Kermans Flooring, you won’t be wandering long aisles trying to make sense of the differences between Berber and shag. You’ll be introduced to one of our design experts. And our first step will be to talk to you about your needs. We don’t need measurements but a budget is helpful. We’ll probably ask you to describe how the room will be used and its traffic patterns. If you have new furniture or window coverings that you want to match and can bring in a pillow or swatch, that’s a good initial guide as well. This information gathering will help us steer you in the right direction.
Step 2: Do some research.
You have your notes ready but before you come into the store, we encourage you to go a step further. Consider the pros and cons of different types of flooring, the installation process and maintenance needs. Step 3: Hands-on shopping
Shopping for flooring shouldn’t happen just by looking at pictures. You’ll notice when you walk into our showroom that we have a wide variety of displays so you can look and touch the flooring. In fact, we’ll even encourage you to take some samples home. Flooring often looks different in our showroom than on your bedroom floor. It also looks different next to your walls, your furniture and in natural light. Find some samples and take them home to “live” with them for a few days. Look at them at different times of day and in different spots of the room. It shouldn’t take long to eliminate a few samples and narrow the options to one or two choices that are just right.
